The Hokah Fire Department is located in Southeast Minnesota.  The City of Hokah is a small town with only 582 residents.  Hokah Fire Department proudly protects approximately 1580 people living in an area of 66 square miles. We operate out of One station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Hokah Firefighters Assn. is a 501c(3) non profit organization.

Hokah is located in the heart of Minnesota's Scenic Bluff Country. The fire department was first organized July 19, 1883.

The Hokah Fire Department is led by Fire Chief Mike Walsh and is an all volunteer fire department. The Hokah Fire Department consists of 33 Firemen and First Responders.  Of the 33 members of the Hokah Fire Department 5 of them are First Responders only

ADOPT A HYDRANT

If you have a fire hydrant in front of your home or on your property, please shovel it out after a snowfall so that it is visible from the street.  Valuable firefighting time can be lost trying to locate a hydrant.

SMOKE DETECTORS

Make sure that your smoke detectors are in working order.  A good rules is to change the batteries in the spring and in the fall when daylight savings time changes.

CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS

If you do not have a carbon monoxide detector, you should consider purchasing one.  Residential smoke detectors have drastically reduced fire dollar loss throughout the area.
